STUDENT LIFE AT BGSU HILLEL
We make the Jewish holidays engaging and meaningful for students away from home!
We provide opportunities to commit to social justice and community service based on the Jewish values of tzedakah and tikkun olam.
We host many social programs so students can meet new people and make friends. From Ice Skating at Slater Ice Arena to apple picking at McQueens, join us for fun trips and discover all that NW Ohio has to offer!
During the school year we gather 2-3 times a month at 6pm for student-led Shabbat services followed by a free dinner. Want to join us? RSVP to our FB event or call us at 419-724-0377!
Each spring, we bring a Holocaust survivor to BGSU. In March 2018 we hosted the inspiring Dr. Irene Butter who spoke about how the power of love and family helped give her hope even in the toughest of times. Dr. Butter spoke to 800+ students, faculty, staff and community members.
We participate in monthly tikkun olam volunteer opportunities through the year. This year our partners include The Cocoon, Toledo Jewish Family Services and Give Kids the World.
Want to return to Israel after Birthright? We can help you find an internship that is right for you!
We participate in Alternative Fall and Spring breaks. In fall 2017 we partnered with Nechama Jewish Response to Disaster to help with hurricane clean-up in Houston. Every spring we volunteer at Give Kids The World Village, a nonprofit resort for children with life-threatening illnesses.
